Assessment of the thermal degradation kinetics of fresh green coconut husk (Cocos nucifera L.) powder and after methyl levulinate production

نویسندگان

چکیده

This study describes the recycling of green coconut husk powder (CHP) aimed at sustainable production methyl levulinate. The preliminary step involved thermogravimetric analysis and residues after synthesis levulinate with catalyst’s aluminum sulfate (CHP-AS) titanium dioxide (CHP-TD), based on a degradation determination activation energy using Ozawa-Flynn-Wall (OWF) method. Thermogravimetric analyses showed significant differences between main constituents CHP, CHP-AS CHP-TD residues: hemicellulose (18.18, 9.78 12.17%), cellulose (44.65, 26.18 44.23%) lignin (20.09, 19.89 19.58%), respectively. concentration obtained by reaction CHP was 16.53 g.L-1, due to participation cellulose. results that energies calculated OFW method were 142 kJ.mol-1 (CHP), 125 180 (CHP-TD).

The genome draft of coconut (Cocos nucifera)

Coconut palm (Cocos nucifera,2n = 32), a member of genus Cocos and family Arecaceae (Palmaceae), is an important tropical fruit and oil crop. Currently, coconut palm is cultivated in 93 countries, including Central and South America, East and West Africa, Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands, with a total growth area of more than 12 million hectares [1]. Coconut palm is generally classified i...

Antioxidant Activity of Coconut (Cocos nucifera L.) Protein Fractions.

Coconut cake is an abundant and good potential edible protein source. However, until now it has not been extensively used in the food industry. To promote its usage, the characterization, nutrition value and antioxidant activity of coconut cake protein fractions (albumin, globulin, prolamine, glutelin-1 and glutelin-2) were studied. Results revealed that all the albumin, globulin, glutelin-1 an...

Adsorption of 5.5’-Disulfonicindigotin (5.5’-DI) onto Green Coconut Fiber (Cocos nucifera L.): Kinetic and Isotherms

Green coconut fiber (Cocos nucifera L.) has been largely used in solid-phase extraction. The effect of the initial dye concentration (1.91, 3.02 and 4.02) × 10−5 mol∙L−1 and solid phase contact (SPE) time were evaluated at different temperatures (283, 298 and 313) K at pH 2. Kinetic experimental data were applied to three simplified kinetic models: pseudo-first order, pseudo-second order, and i...

The husk fiber of Cocos nucifera L. (Palmae) is a source of anti-neoplastic activity.

In the present study, we investigated the in vitro anti-tumoral activities of fractions from aqueous extracts of the husk fiber of the typical A and common varieties of Cocos nucifera (Palmae). Cytotoxicity against leukemia cells was determined by the 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Cells (2 x 10(4)/well) were incubated with 0, 5, 50 or 500 microg/mL hi...
